Ysw Supports Youth Policy In West Pokot
In response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and child marriages in West Pokot County, the county Department of Gender and Youth formed a technical committee develop the Youth Policy. This policy aims to inform strategic programming and resource allocation to effectively address the youth-related challenges in the county.
With support from YSW, the technical committee convened for a two-day meeting to conclude the finalization process of the youth policy.
The Chief Officer for Youth, Edwin Pkemei emphasizes the importance of the youth policy in addressing critical issues affecting the youth population in West Pokot County.
“A well-designed youth policy will provide a roadmap for empowering young people, addressing their unique needs and aspirations, and harnessing their immense potential. It will ensure that our youth have access to quality education, meaningful employment opportunities, and platforms for civic engagement and leadership development, said Pkemei.
One of the young champions recommended the construction and equipping of safe spaces for young people in the county.
