How entrepreneurship training flipped Yvonne’s business

Yvonne Pinto, a beneficiary of the first cohort of the VIVA entrepreneurship training in 2023, has transformed her beauty and therapy business in Obunga, Kisumu County, with a fresh outlook and renewed determination. Motivated by the desire to change her life narrative and provide for her child, Yvonne embraced the training with a vision for business excellence.

Before setting up her business, Yvonne was in her final year of college. But everything came to a stop when she discovered she was pregnant. Her new reality negatively drifted her relationship with those close to her. She eventually found her way and ended up in the entrepreneurship training.

“Before the training, I mainly demanded cash payments for my services, which made it impossible for me to save,” Yvonne recalls.

After completing the training, she acquired a Business till number that allows her clients to pay via mobile money. This move helped her separate personal finances from business revenue, improve her savings culture, and practice financial discipline.

“I only access the money in emergencies or when I need to restock my business,” she explains. “,” she adds with a smile.

With this renewed approach, Yvonne built her savings and diversified her business. Today, she not only offers beauty and therapy services but also sells clothes and perfumes.
