Youth Power in Action, Kisumu’s Peer Educators Shake Up Budget Talks!

Young changemakers from Nyalenda and Obunga are proving that youth voices matter in shaping Kisumu County’s future! Armed with training from Youth for a Sustainable World (YSW) on budget and policy advocacy, these peer educators stepped up and took part in the Kisumu County Fiscal Strategy Paper (FY 2025/2026) discussions at their ward level.

With a deep dive into past budgets, they challenged priorities, sparking powerful conversations on contraceptive supplies, ARVs, and essential drugs—key areas at risk due to donor funding shifts. They didn’t stop there! They are pushing for better health sector financing, economic growth strategies, and youth employment opportunities, gaining massive support from their communities.

Their bold proposals were met with enthusiasm, proving that when young people engage, real change happens! This milestone sets the stage for the next big step—the Annual Development Plans—where their influence will continue to shape Kisumu’s future.
