YSW Elected Chair of CHReaD Financing Committee

Youth for a Sustainable World was elected as the chair of the Coalition for Health Research and Development (CHReaD) Financing Committee, highlighting the organisation’s leadership in national health financing and policy advocacy.

CHReaD brings together civil society, research institutions, academia, and the private sector in Kenya to champion an enabling environment that supports innovation, research, and equitable access to life-saving health products and technologies.

As part of its governance structure, CHReaD operates through five specialised subcommittees: regulatory harmonisation, innovation, finance, communications, and research.

YSW will serve in this role for the next two years, conducting high-level analysis of key public budgets and planning documents, including the Health Sector Report, Budget Review and Outlook Paper, and the Budget Policy Statement.

This role not only recognizes YSW’s exceptional capability to influence national and sub-national budgeting processes—particularly around sexual and reproductive health and rights—but also provides an opportunity to deepen its engagement in the broader health financing agenda.

Taking on this leadership role in CHReaD, YSW reaffirms its commitment to advancing sustainable health research and development financing through evidence-based advocacy, ensuring that all Kenyans, especially adolescent girls and women, can lead healthy, empowered lives.
