Nairobi mentor parents benefit from ASRHR sensitisation

Seventy mentor parents and guardians under the Linda Binti Project were sensitised on the critical role of parents in creating a supportive environment that enables young adolescents to access services without fear or discrimination.

The sessions emphasised the Ministry of Education guidelines on parental engagement and provided practical insights on how to support teenage girls and boys at home. The guidelines seek to equip parents with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to actively support their children’s education and well- being, and to foster meaningful collaboration between parents, schools, and communities to create a supportive learning environment.

Participants were empowered to be champions in their communities, sharing their newfound knowledge and advocating for informed decision-making around ASRHR.

In addition to the sensitisation sessions, 35 mentor parents participated in an exchange meeting facilitated by representatives from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and Department of Children Services.

The meeting offered a platform for mentor parents to share experiences, discuss challenges, and explore solutions on ASRHR and promoting a collaborative approach to addressing emerging issues
